SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) issued the following statement in response to the California Department of Water Resources’ announcement that it would begin releasing water through the Oroville Dam main spillway on Friday, March 10:
“California should not have to choose between protecting public safety or preparing for the next drought. This winter’s storms highlight the need to invest in critical water infrastructure and storage projects such as Sites Reservoir.
“During the Oroville Dam crisis, my top priority was providing resources and information to residents at risk of flood. My constituents can expect the same in the coming weeks as the North State is hit with more storms and an extraordinary snowpack.”
