Apparently 6,400 dead Californians in one year isn't enough for Dems to crack down. Between April 2020 and April 2021, there were an estimated 6,400 deadly fentanyl overdoses  in California.  But that’s still not enough to make a difference to Capitol Dems, who would rather watch thousands of Californians die than get tough on fentanyl dealers.  That’s the takeaway from two reports by CalMatters and the LA Times on Democratic resistance to getting tough on the criminals behind the fentanyl epidemic. Emily Hoeven from CalMatters noted “cracking down on fentanyl dealers could prove to be a…
Vote sends clear message that Democrats are OK w/ record-breaking gas prices. SACRAMENTO - Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) issued the following statement on the Assembly Transportation Committee’s vote to block Republican's proposal for a gas tax holiday and increase gas taxes even higher:  "Only Assembly Democrats would think you can bring down gas prices by increasing the gas tax. Today’s stunt in the Transportation Committee shows just how far Democrats will go to delay and avoid giving Californians any relief from high gas prices. Californians are hurting…
SACRAMENTO: Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) issued the following statement on Governor Newsom’s proposal to provide gas cards to drivers in July:  “July? Seriously? Californians are struggling and Capitol Democrats are dragging their feet. How could it possibly take that long? Capitol Democrats are all talk and no action. “Assembly Republicans have a plan to bring down gas prices by 50 cents a gallon immediately. We’ll be voting on it tomorrow. Democrats who think four months is too long to wait should support it.”
Timer Will Track How Long Californians Have Been Waiting Since Newsom Promised Gas Tax Relief SACRAMENTO - Today, Assembly Republicans released the “Capitol Democrats Are All Talk Timer” to highlight Democrats’ complete inaction on tax relief while Californians struggle with sky-high gas prices and soaring inflation. Californians can visit the timer for a reminder of how long it’s been with no results since Governor Newsom promised relief in his State of the State address.  “The clock is literally ticking,” said Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher. “If you eat at the French Laundry,…
SACRAMENTO - Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher issued the following statement on Democrats' third attempt at a tax relief proposal in less than ten days:  “This shouldn’t be difficult. Just let people keep more of their money. “Californians have been struggling with record gas prices for a month. Show us a bill to provide tax relief, with no tricks or gimmicks, and let’s vote on it ASAP. And let’s also suspend the gas tax.”
SACRAMENTO - Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher issued the following statement on Assembly Democrats’ gas tax rebate proposal:  “It’s about time. Californians are hurting and it’s taken Democrats weeks to act.  “This bill should be fast-tracked to the Governor’s desk and targeted to working Californians who actually feel the pain at the pump.  “While this is a start, Republicans will still work to suspend the gas tax and stop the upcoming increase. With inflation at a 40-year high and gas prices breaking records, $400 will go pretty fast.”
Capitol Democrats’ Only Solution: Buy a Tesla  SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Democrats killed a Republican proposal to immediately bring down the price of gas by suspending California’s 51-cent-per-gallon gas tax. California drivers face the highest gas prices in the country, and at $5.74 per gallon; fuel costs here are $1.41 per gallon above the national average.    “Capitol Democrats had the chance to provide struggling Californians with immediate relief at the gas pump. They refused,” said Assemblyman James Gallagher (Yuba City). “High gas prices and inflation are devastating California…
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) issued the following statement on February's Consumer Price Index, which showed inflation hit 7.9%, the highest level since 1982 and the sixth consecutive monthly increase: “Inflation is at a 40-year high, and Gavin Newsom didn’t mention it once in his State of the State address. Californians are hurting and our Governor couldn’t care less. If Democrats refuse to even acknowledge there’s a problem, how can we expect them to fix it?"
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) issued the following statement in response to Governor Newsom’s State of the State address: “Under Gavin Newsom’s leadership, Californians are worse off in just about every measurable way. Despite his boasts about the economy, California has the highest unemployment rate in the nation and inflation is at a 40-year high. A gas tax rebate in July will do exactly nothing for drivers who are currently struggling with the highest gas prices in history, being forced to choose between driving their kids to school or putting…
