While Californians face real crises, Newsom’s podcast rewrites history
Even CNN is asking the question:
“What in God’s name is going on” — with Gavin Newsom?
Their KFILE investigation just shredded Newsom’s latest attempt to rewrite his record, calling out how he’s now disowning the same progressive policies he pushed for years in California.
Reporter Andrew Kaczynski laid out the facts. Here’s the contrast:
Newsom on his podcast:
“Not one person ever in my office has ever used the word Latinx.”
Reality:
Newsom used “Latinx” repeatedly in speeches, official statements and across social media. CNN rolled the footage. It’s not debatable.
Newsom also said this about trans athletes:
“It is an issue of fairness. And I think Democrats have lost that.”
Reality:
This is the same Gavin Newsom who praised California’s trans student law as Lieutenant Governor, thanking the Legislature for “what you did on civil rights for students in our schools, transgender rights in this state.”
Now he frames it as if it was someone else’s idea and says his own party has “lost it.”
CNN’s conclusion was blunt:
“These aren’t minor shifts. These are progressive issues that Gavin Newsom used to champion until fairly recently and now he’s not just walking away from there, he’s sort of acting like they were never legitimate.”
When CNN asked for comment, Newsom’s team refused to go on record. Probably because there’s no way to explain any of it.
Even Democrats in the Legislature are fed up. A former Assembly Speaker summed it up:
“They’re mystified. ‘WTF’ is the most common text message I get.”
Newsom isn’t leading California.
He’s using it as a political springboard, rewriting his record while the rest of us deal with the damage.
