LA Times Highlights Incoming Republican Members

SACRAMENTO – Yesterday, the Los Angeles Times published a story featuring two incoming Republican Assemblymembers in Sacramento who flipped historically blue Assembly districts.

Jeff Gonzalez (R-Indio) and Leticia Castillo (R-Corona) were sworn into office last week after gaining the trust of both Republicans and Democrats who are fed up with out-of-control cost of living, a spiraling homelessness crisis, and a supermajority that ignores their needs.

Assemblyman Gonzalez said of his diverse coalition of supporters, “These are just working-class folks who came here for whatever reason, from another county or state, and just want to live the California dream. They’re seeing it go away, and they want someone to stand up for them.”

Assemblywoman Castillo explained her victory, saying Californians “have other issues going on that are more important” than the culture war policies prioritized by Democrats.

Californians are facing crushing costs of living, rampant crime, and spiking gas prices while Democrats have continued to push the status quo. This year, Californians made it clear they’re ready for something different.
