SACRAMENTO – Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) released the following statement after the defeat of the dangerous pro-criminal bill SB 94 (Cortese), which would have allowed brutal killers serving life sentences to attempt to have those sentences overturned:
“Violent murderers deserve to be punished for their crimes. I’m proud we were able to amplify the voices of victims demanding justice, and grateful for the unwavering support from members of law enforcement and district attorneys who helped kill this harmful bill. Republicans will always stand with victims. It’s clear where Democrat’s priorities lie.”
