AB 2535 – State Healthy Food Access Policy – CA Grown

AB 2535 would strengthen California’s commitment to food access by clarifying that the right to sufficient affordable and healthy food includes locally grown and raised options. The bill also would require agencies to identify opportunities and strategies to improve farm-to-fork infrastructure to support local food in public programs, particularly school meals. AB 2535 would also require California Community Colleges and the California State University to consider the updated state policy in their procurement practices and encourages the University of California to do the same.
