SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblyman James Gallagher released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Doug LaMalfa:
“I’m in shock. My mentor, a man who was like a big brother to me, is suddenly gone. Doug LaMalfa was a one of a kind, humble and dedicated public servant. I’m lost and can’t imagine life, public service or politics without Doug.
His focus was always on the people of his district and the American values he cherished so deeply. There was no one who took the job of representative more seriously than Doug. He traversed the district, going to every dinner and community event. He demanded answers from bureaucrats. He pushed hard for the things his people needed. He waited until the very end of every State of the Union so he could talk to the President, Republican or Democrat, about his district.
My condolences and love are with Jill and the entire LaMalfa family — including his staff and advisors who were treated like family. We’ve lost a great one and it hits hard.”
