SACRAMENTO – In case you missed it, Governor Newsom’s office threw a tantrum over a column from CalMatters’ Dan Walters that broke down his history of failure on homelessness.
As the article pointed out, despite repeated promises, billions of wasted tax dollars and a scathing audit that revealed Newsom’s administration has no clue where homelessness funds are going, the problem has gotten significantly worse under his governorship.
Newsom’s response? A series of angry tweets decrying the article, shifting blame, and claiming homelessness ‘only’ increased 20% during his administration. Since the governor is committed to gaslighting on this issue, we’ll state the obvious: an increase of 20% is not progress.
The homelessness crisis remains a top concern for many Californians and Newsom has repeatedly failed to deliver results. Instead of taking responsibility, he blames local leaders, lambasts journalists who call out his failures, and misleads Californians.
Californians deserve actual progress on homelessness – not the failures and excuses Newsom has been offering.
