SACRAMENTO – Tomorrow, ahead of the first committee hearing of the special session on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s refinery mandate, Assembly Republicans will hold a press conference discussing their proposals which will actually lower gas prices and offer Californians immediate relief at the pump.
Newsom called the special session after not getting his way on a rushed, last-minute proposal to add storage regulations on refineries. Even his own administration has warned this could cause fuel shortages and increase gas prices. It’s time for real solutions.
Republican proposals to bring down gas prices include:
- Exempt Gas from Cap-and-Trade (ABX2-3 – Gallagher)
- Suspend the Gas Tax (ABX2-2 – Lackey)
- Increase Transparency on Gasoline Prices (ABX2-7 – Dixon)
- Stop Newsom’s Stealth Gas Tax Increase (ABX2-4 – Joe Patterson)
- $100 Rebate for Drivers to Offset Rising Fuel Costs (ABX2-5 – Lackey)
- Cut Red Tape to Expand California’s Storage Projects (ABX2-6 – Lackey)
