SACRAMENTO – Today, following the passage of legislative Democrats’ 2024-25 budget, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) released the following statement, slamming the spending plan’s reckless and irresponsible decisions.
“After years of surplus and ample opportunity to do the right thing, Democrats have squandered taxpayer money and recklessly spent themselves into a deficit. This budget embraces Newsom’s gimmicks to punt our biggest problems one more year into the future. This budget does nothing to make Californians safer or lower families’ costs. Instead, it relies on billions in tax increases, fails to adequately fund infrastructure, water storage projects, education, or public safety, and neglects some of the most vulnerable Californians. Democrats should be embarrassed.”
