SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) announces passage of his bills out of the Assembly Appropriations committee and on to the chamber floor.

“I was happy to see the Appropriations Committee approve my bills which help keep the promise to those who have lost everything in these devastating wildfires” said Gallagher.

AB 1249  will exempt payments that fire victims receive from the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Trust Fund from taxable income.

AB 1776  adds Resource Conservation Districts to the list of entities that can receive a late penalty payment from the state, ensuring our local volunteers are paid on time after they perform their work.

AB 2283  will further protect wildfire victims and guarantee their full compensation by reviewing the impacts of PG&E bankruptcy filing on their stock value.

These pieces of legislation are expected to be voted on by September 1, 2022.
